Amarok SVN ebuild

I regularly check the SVN builds of Amarok my favorite music program (if you are using linux, go check it out). Since I also use Gentoo, I just needed to have a good ebuild for it. I found a very good file on the Amarok forums, but had some small problems with it (it did too much), so I made a small update.

If you are interested, here it is.

03/06 small update: on the Amarok forums someone pointed out that the same result could be achieved in a more elegant way. The download now points to the more elegant file.

06/08 update: Andrew pointed out that you need to update the ebuild with a couple of things. Please read the comments for the information. Personally I didn’t have any luck lately since the process now seems to need unsermake and QT4. I am working on that.

    you have to run
    ebuild `equery w media-sound/amarok-svn` digest
to get the Manifest + digest files

So true. You can also cd into the media-sound/amarok-svn directory and type: ebuild amarok-svn.ebuild digest.

    Hi!

    Thanks for the ebuild!

Few last days I’m not able to build the amaroK. The error is:

    *** YOU’RE USING automake (GNU automake) 1.4-p6.
*** KDE requires automake 1.6.1 or newer
    make[1]: *** [cvs] Error 1

If I remember well, the error is in sync with replacement of admin/detect-autoconf.sh with admin/detect-autoconf.pl.

I have daily synced ~x86 system.

    Have you the problem?

    Andrew

    Hi Andrew,

Thanks for the feedback. I didn’t update the file yet since I run into a lot of problems.

Amarok seems to want unsermake nowadays and even worse, it seems to want QT4…

Now I don’t want to install QT4, just for Amarok.

And when I try to install manually (using the svn FAQ on amarok.kde.org) things seem to be almost normal.

I might be back with more news later.

    Hi Andrew.

Well updated the ebuild and made a new version that gets rid of the problems I’ve had with unsermake and QT4.0.

If you want to read about it, try this info here. You can get the ebuild here.
